An audacious burglary was carried out in Auckland on Wednesday night at the premises of a laundry company in Sussex Street. The burglars levered a sliding door off its rails in order to gain entrance, and then carried a small safe from the office and down a flight of six steps into tho factory. They could have been seen by any passer-by through a glass window. They removed the safe 160 feet across the factory floor, using a truck for the purpose, and then carried it down into the electric fuse room, which has a concrete floor. There they burst it open with an explosive, removed the money it contained, and departed through the back door. While they were in the office they ransacked every drawer and strewed the contents on the floor. The safe contained only petty cash, about £5 in all.—(P.A.) Furnished rooms to let.
