CENTURY NOT OUT IN FIRST MATCH.

GRIMMETT CAPTURES FIVE WICKET'S. LONDON, May 2. As demonstrating the phenomenal interest England is taking in the tour of the. Australian cricket team, the large crowd at the opening match of the tour —with Worcestershire, at Worcester—included over 100 journalists and 50 photographers. The county team was disposed of cheaply, Grimmett taking five wickets, and. the Australians then ran up a score of 199 for three l wickets, Bradman punishing all the bowlers in making I'l2 not out. There were 6000 people present after lunch, when Grimmett’s ascendancy became pronounced. Worcestershire’s innings ended with Oldfield taking a spectacular catch to dismiss Quaife. In 170 minutes the county team had. compiled 112 runs. Grimmett took five wickets for 53 runs. Ponsford and Woodfull opened confidently for Australia, Ponsford playing a series of crisp attacking shots before being caught in the slips.
