FINAL CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE. FINE LINES AFPRECIATEL OFFICIAL RANGE OF PRICES. CHRISTCHURCH, April 5. The fourth and final wool sale of the •Christchurch season was held this afternoon. Owing to the free disposal at preceding sales there was a very small catalogue of 4262 bales. The selection was a poor one, comprising mostly backcountry, West Coast and held-over wools, which were mainly shabby and heavy in condition. Competition was unexpectedly keen, especially from the Continent, which lifted most of the fine quality fleece and pieces. Bradford buyers were comparatively quiet, confining their attention to lower grade top-making wools. The clearance was approximately 95 per cent. Fleece wools of 48 count and over were better than at the March sale by a farthing to a penny per lb. Fine pieces showed a slightly better appreciation, most averaging from a halfpenny to a full penny more. This estimate makes allowance for the difference in quality at the two sales. Crossbred showed little, if any, difference, but was up to the rates ruling recently at other centres. Following is the range of prices:— Merino, 64/70, 60/64.—Super, 18d to l!91d; average, 15Ad to 17|d; inferior, 12d to 15d.
Corriedale.— Super, 18jd to 20d; 1 average, 16jd to l’8d; inferior, 134 d to 15id. Fine Halfbred, -58, '56/58, 56.—Super l®|d to 20Jd; average, 164 d to 184 d; inferior, l'4d to 16d. Medium Halfbred, 50/56. — Super, Ififd to 17|d; average, 144 d to 16Jd; inferior, 12£d to 14d. Extra Fine Crossbred, 48/50.—Average, lOd to' 12|d; inferior, 8d to 9sd. Fine Crossbred, 46/48. —Super, Bfd to 9|d; average, 7Jd to 84d; inferior, s|d to 7d. Medium Crossbred, 44/46. —Average <s4d to 74d; inferior, 4£d to 6d. Bellies.—Halfbred: Good, 13d to 13fd; low to medium, 10|d to 12fd. Pieces.— Halfbred: Good, 15|d to 17fd; low to' medium, lid to 15d. Bellies and Pieces.—'Crossbred: 'Good 8d to 94d; low to medium, 4jd to 74d. Crutchings. — Halfbred: Medium to good, 7jd to 104 d; inferior and seedy, s|d. to 7d.
