SCOTT PAINE DETERMINED TO WIN IT. TRIAL RUN ON COURSE. VANCOUVER, August 24. A message from Algonaeh, Michigan, states that Mr. Hubert Scott Paine has let it be known tha,t he is going to keep trying to win the Harmsworth Trophy “if it takes the last penny I’ve got. It may not be my fortune/’ he says, “to win from Commander G(ar Wood this year, but who knows but what, with a bit of luck, it might be accomplished?” Scott Paine later piloted Miss Britain 111 through a first trial run on the St. Clair River, the trim craft performing apparently to the satisfaction of her pilot. No estimate of her speed was made.
