WOOL VALUES.
SUBSTANTIAL ADVANCE AT CHRISTCHURCH. COMPARISON WITH MARCH SALES. CHRISTCHURCH, August 25. Corresponding with the general advance in wool values, the prices at a supplementary wool auction held to-day showed a substantial advance on those ruling at the March sale in Christchurch. The bulk of the entry of over 3000 bales was cleared at auction, some being wool previously passed at auction but now sought by buyers. On an average, fleece wool prices to-day advanced up to 30 per cent, on the March basis, line fleece advanced 2d to 3d per lb. Low, shabby and dirty wool, which could, not be sold at earlier auctions this year, was absorbed very readily. Following is the range of prices:— Super halfbred, llsd to- 13id; average, 94d to ll|d; inferior, 7'fd to 9Jd. Super merino, to 13d; average, 9fd to llfd; inferior, Bid to 9|d. Average crossbred 54d to 7|d; inferior, 3d to sd. Average three-quarterbred, 7jd to Bfd; inferior, 5d to 7d. Super pieces, 7|d to 9£d; average, 5d to 7d; inferior, 2jd to 4fd. Super crutchings, 6|d to B|d; average, 41d to 6£d; inferior, 2£d to 4d. Good to super bellies, 6d to- 9|d; low to medium, 3d to 3fd. Good to> super locks, 4d to ‘6d; low and medium, 2id to 31d.—--(P.A.)
