BOYS’ BAND.

performance in queen st. last night.

FAVOURABLE IMPRESSION MADE. The Masterton Junior Band, now fully equipped with uniforms, made its first appearance in Queen Street last night. The uniforms look very smart, the blazer eoats being of navy blue with gold trimmings and the trousers of navy serge. A neat cap completes |he uniform and gives the lads .a trim appearance.

A few business people in the vicinity of the Regent Theatre have interested themselves very commendably in the boys and subscribed to their funds in return for a performance last night in that portion of the town. Those subscribing are: Mr. H. B. Thomas, Messrs. Laidlaw and Mac Kay, Messrs. Albert Donald, J, Kerslake, Robinson and Sons, Pitt's Boot Store, Regent Theatre, E. Pole, Nicol and Co., E. 6. Aldridge, E. Clark, T. McCracken, Wenvoe Tearooms, G-. Mclvor and Mr. F. E. Wells, of the W.F.C.A., Ltd. To give the band sufficient light, Messrs. Laidlaw and Mac Kay erected a floodlight under which the band played, afterwards moving to the front of the Regent Theatre. , The appearance of the lads attracted a very large attendance of interested people who were delighted with their street performance, which is a distinct credit to themselves and to their patient and hard-working conductor, Mr. Geo Hutchinson. After having been regaled with soft drinks by Mr. Clark, of the Regent Sweet Shop, the boys were entertained by Mr. Allan Tong, manager of the,Regent Theatre. During the interval the band played a selection in front of the picture screen, much to the delight and pleasure of the large audience. The Boys’ Band wishes to continue these Friday performances and proposes to give them in different sections of the town in turn.
