ECONOMIC CONFERENCE.
PLANS FOR EARLY ASSEMBLY OF COMMITTEE. PREPARING THE WAY. (Received Wednesday, 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 4. The “New York Times" Washington correspondent states that although the State Department has declined to comment on recurring rumours from London that Mr. Ramsay MacDonald would come to the United States it is learned to-day that Mr. Davis is carrying plans assembling of the International Committee representing the major foreign Powers in Washington some time in the spring, to prepare through discussions for the Economic Conference. It is understood that the plan has President Roosevelt's complete support. WAR. DEBT REVISION. SCALING DOWN PROVIDED FOR. (Received Wednesday, 11.10 p.m.) LONDON, April 5. The “Daily Mail" understands that Mr. Davis, on President Roosevelt's authority, has presented Britain with a war debt revision, which the Government is examining. The offer, it is stated, provides for a scaling down of the British debt by over two hundred million sterling, together with other concessions.
