CRICKET.

MAURICEVILLE v. EKETAHUNA. RETURN MATCH. A return match between the Mauriceville and Eketahuna cricket clubs was played on the Eketahuna Domain during the week-end. A very enjoyable game resulted. Mauriceville had rather an easy victory. Mauriceville batted first and knocked up a total of 111 runs (Hood 20, A. Neilsen 33, F. Nielsen 11, D. Johansen 10), In their first strike, Eketahuna were dismissed for 90 (Richards 44 and O'Regan 31). With a lead of 21 runs on the first innings, Mauriceville went in again and after about a quarter of an hour's play declared with 84 runs up for the loss of two wickets, some whirlwind hitting being witnessed Hood 42, and A. Nielson 35, being the not out batsmen. With about half an hour to go the Eketahuna men went in and were all out for 74 (Finn 17, Evans 16, MeGregor 11). The visitors were hospitably entertained at lunch and afternoon tea. The club’s president, Mr. O'Regan, thanked the visitors for a very enjoyable game and hoped that they would meet again in the New Year. Mr. O. Mortenson suitably replied on behalf of the visitors and cheers were exchanged.
