PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE. Increase in Rates of Interest allowed to Estates. From Ist January, a 926, estates under administration by the Public Trustee and invested in the Common Fund will receive an increased rate of interest. Reduction in Charges. From the same date the rates of commission for administering estates and the fees for preparation of mortgages will be reduced. The Public Trustee has power, when the circumstances so warrant, to reduce the scale of charges prescribed by the Regulations, and this power is frequently exercised. IJNDER Section 23 of the Nurses and Midwives Registration Act, 1925, it is necessary that all persons who desire their names to be published in the Gazette as nurses or as midwives shall forward to the Secretary of the Registration Board a request that their names so appear, together with their addresses and other particulars. Failure to forward such a request may result in the assumption that the person concerned is no longer on the Register. All nurses and midwives are therefore advised to apply forthwith to the offices of the Department of Health at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, or the undersigned for the nehessary forms on which such application for gazetting may be made. (JNDEB Section 13, paragraph (c), ef the Nurses and Midwives Registration Act, 1925, those women who are not registered as midwives, but who desire to continue in practise as maternity nurses, can be registered as such if they prove to the satisfaction of the Nurses and Midwives Registration Board that they have tor not less than twelve months prior to Ist January, 1926, been regularly engaged in practice as maternity nurses in New Zealand. They must apply for registration not later than the first day of January, 1927, forwarding the necessary certificates as to experience and enclosing a post office receipt for the registration fee of £l. Any person omitting to make such application will be, after that date, barred entirely from practising unless after undergoing the necessary course and passing the State Examination as prescribed by the 'Regulations under the above Act. AH intending to register under this Section of the Act are urged to lodge their application for registration at once. Forms of application and for payment of fees can be obtained from the offices of the Department of Health, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and the undersigped. J. W.
