RIMUTAKA ROAD.

BLOCKED FOR TRAFFIC. Advice was received by “The Age” last night that the Rimutaka Hill road will be blocked for heavy traffic for about 36 hours, as the result of a slip a few chains above the motor bridge. At this spot the Public Works Department gang have been widening the road, and constant blasting has caused the bank to slip, a consider-, able portion coming down. Mr F. J. Staniforth was able to get his service car round the slip last evening with the aid of ropes, but the road gang state that it is donbtful if heavy trucks could get through before to-night. It is possible, however, by taking the old road, to get up the bed of the river, regaining the road near the first house on the hill.
