EMPIRE PREFERENCE.

BRITISH GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS. £1,000,000 A YEAR. (Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, Dee. 17.—Sir P. CunliffeLister said, in the Commons, he did not doubt that the Royal Commission on Food Prices and the Imperial Economic Committee would investigate the advantages likely to accure to Britain and the Dominions by the storage and marketing of wheat and other foodstuffs here directly from the Dominions. Mt* Baldwin stated in the .House that £1,000,000 per annum will be allocated to developing schemes for marketing Dominion produce. The “Daily Express” says it is believed that the Government preference plans will provide for a subsidy to aid the marketing of Dominion’s produce, covering meat and fruit as well as fruits and tinned salmon. The aim will be to reduce the prices of Empire produce to the consumer.—(PA.)
