MASTERTON WEST SCHOOL.

COMMITTEE MEETING'. The Masterton West School Committee met last evening, Mr J. V. Gordon presiding. There Were also present: Messrs J, L. Hughes, E. F. Fairbrother, L. Clarke, D. Douglas, A. Robertson, T. Lcete, H. S. Loudon (secretary), and Mr H Miller (headmaster). An z apology was received from Mr F. W. Pointon.

Accounts totalling £l6 2s 7d were passed. As it appeared to the committee that the scchool baths had not been used by the Wairarapa High School as much as they could have been, the secretary was instructed to confer with the chairman of the High School Beard on the matter.

Expressions of thanks were accorded to donors of cups and other prizes, and to those assisting at the bazaars at the main and side schools. It was decided to ask the Education Board to arrange for the topdressing and sanding of the asphalt during the Christmas vacation; to interview the sanitary inspector regarding inspection of the school grounds, and to than’: Mr Aplin for cutting the grass and clearing up the grounds. The headmaster was asked to lecture the -children as to the proper dress to be worn at the baths during mixed bathing hours. Headmaster’s Report.

The headmaster reported that the attendance had improved. Mr Lewis and Miss Major (pupil teachers) were proceeding to Training College next year. The annual examinations result ted in a high percentage \of passes. The senior inspector had expressed pleasure at the quality of -he work
