To-day he was particularly troublesome, and when he informed Mr H. 'V. Bundle, who had directed him as to a lino of questioning, that the witness was in his (jHammerly's) hands, Mr Bundle promptly committed him for contempt of court. Hammerly was charged, in the afternoon, with contempt of court and was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment. Hammerly, however, pleaded that he was suffering from deafness and had been treated by a specialist, wherupon His Worship reduced the sentence to one of 48 hours.—(P.A.)
