MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED.

COLLISION WITH CAR. RESULTS IN BROKEN LEG. A collision on tjie Blairlogie road, on Sunday, between a motor car driven by Mr H. O. Toogood, of “ Waiana,” and a motor cyclist named Edward Allsworth, a telegraph linesman, was attended with unfortunate results for the latter, who suffered a broken leg, necessitating his removal to the Mjasterton Hospital. The cyclist was a member of a party of the Wairarapa Motor Club, who were holding a social run to “Riversdale,” and when about three miles past the Blairlogie Junction, while rounding a corner, he met the car, which was coming to Masterton. The impact was severe, the cycle falling beneath the car. The rider suffered a broken thigh, and also was severely shaken. All members of the party speak highly of the assistance given the sufferer by Mr and Mrs Toogood, who brought him to the hospital.

The wheel marks on the road indicate that both were travelling on their correct side, and motorists following behind Allsworth say it was a pure accident, such as might occur on any bad bend.

The car received considerable damage in the front, but the mechanics among the motorists’ party were able to improvise repairs sufficiently to enable Mr Toogood to proceed to Masterton.
