MR. A. W. HOGG.
APPRECIATION OF SERVICES
The resignation of Mr. A. W. Hogg, on the ground of .tailing health, as a member of the Wellington Education Board was received at the meeting of the Board yesterday morning. The chairnufn (Mr. T. Forsyth) said that Mr. Hogg had performed magnificent service on behalf of education for many years, and his resignation and the cause of it were matters for deep regret. Ho thought it was only fitting that the Board should place on record its appreciation of Mr. Hogg's services by passing a special motion. He therefore moved: "Mr. A. W. Hogg was elected to the Wellington Education Board in March, 1897, and has continued on the Board until the present time. In now accepting his resignation with deep regret, tho Board places on record its sense of the s'ingleness of purpose, and the untiring effort with which he has at all times championed the special needs of tho struggling settler, while tit the .same time eager to provide suitable education institutions for the larger centres of population. The Board is of the opinion that Mr. Hogg has richly earned the lasting gratitude of the community by his ,line record of twenty-three years' honorary service in the cause of education, and expresses the hope that Mr. Hogg may be restored to health." Mr. R. McCallum, M.P., seconded the motion, remarking that Mr. Hogg's example was one of absolute unselfishness throughout'his -whole life. Other members also made appreciative references, and the motion was carried.
