SATURDAY TROOP TRAINS
INTERVIEW WITH RAILWAY DEPARTMENT. It is not .true that Colonel. Hiley lias definitely promised a Saturday troop train from Featherston to Masterton. Air Gr. R. Sykes, M.P., proceeded. to Wellipgton yesterday and interviewed the Railway Department upon /the subject. He ascertained that it would be possible to bring troops to Masterton by a troop train that is utilised to convey soldiers to Wellington late on Saturday afternoon. This train could come througli to Mnsterton earlier in the day. The difficulty is in providing rolling stock to take the soldiers back to camp on. Saturday night. Mr Sykes suggested that this difficulty' could be overcome by utilising the rolling stock of tho late train from WeHineJon and of the last train from Woooville. Mr McVilly 'promised to go throughly into the question, and to communicate with Mr Sykes upon the subject today.
