ENTERTAINING THE SOLDIERS.

CRICKET MATCHES. The cricket enthusiasts of Masterton havo of late been arranging matches for teams from Lamp on-Sat-urdays. It ha s been found mat quite a number of teams can visit Masterton, and arrangements have been made to play two match on the Park oval on Saturday next,, the teams being representatives of the Artillery and the L'lst Specialists. Two pitches are being prepared on the oval, which should present a very busy appearance on Saturday afternoon. In order to have good pitches a. levy i s made on local cricketer'of one shilling to pay>the Park custodian to get the pitch into order. An extra shilling is also collected to enable the soldiers to be entertained at tea in the kiosk. It has been found that local players are quite willing to make this contribution towards entertaining the soldiers. Wilsoxij s§Krt], and C. Davis; emergenw*, G. H. Gupwell and Pinkney. Tile matches arc timed for l.i", P.m., and it is hoped that all players will endeavour to ho on the ground at that time.
