RUST-RESISTING OAT.

A SPLENDID ACHIEVEMENT

(By Telegraph—Preu Association.) AUCKLAND, Last NLglit.

Perhaps one of the greatest results achieved from- the distribution, of parcels of rust-resisting oat seed has' been obtained by a Whatawhata farmer. He received a, pound weight parcel of seed, and planted it in care-fully-prepared land, from which he reaped over 1601bs of first—class oats. The threshing of this oat so far at the Ruakura State Farm has produced 3000 bushels, and has averaged 80 bushels to the acre. .This marvellous result has sprung from one plant, discovered in the centre of a rust-infected paddock less tlian eight years ago.
