POT-HUNTING (?)
Among the visitors to the Masterton »how last -week was Mr H. Middleton. of' Waver ley. This gentleman has gone back to his home and told the
local newspaper that he could not say much for the show from a cattle and draught stock aspect. He said there was a wrong feeling creeping into A. and P. shows, which amounted to "pot-hunting," though Mr Middleton did not put it "in those words. "There was free expression of opinion," said Mr Middleton, "that buying the stock of successful breeders and then exhibiting such in the name of the purchaser was opposed to the true spirit of agricultural and pastoral show- competitions." Possibly, Mr Middleton, who appears to oo an observant sort of man, will be able to give us specific instances of tho stock of successful breeders being bought and exhibited at Mastefton in the name of tho purchaser. In justice to himself, and in fairness to the A. and P. Association, he should furnish this information.
