THE McCARTHY TRUST.

Under the will of the late Mr T. G. McCarthy, the residue of his estate is vested in trustees for the assistance of educational and charitable aid institutions in the ProvinciaLDistrict of Wellington. The question of which educational and charitable-aid institutions shall benefit under the will is left entirely at the discretion of the trustees. As the late Mr McCarthy had very considerable financial interests in the ; Wairarapa, and as Masterton contributed largely to his wealth, we do not think it unreasonable that the trustees should devote a portion of the revenue at their disposal to the assistance of institutions in this district. We would recommend the Wairarapa Hospital 'Board, and the managers of the Masterton Technical School, to make the strongest possible representations to the trustees in the matter.
