April 16 and 17.—HawkeVBay R.C Autumn, April 24 and 25.—Masterton R.C. Autumn. Acceptance** for the first day of the Manawatu Racing Club's Autumn meeting close this evening at 10 -o'clock. ? dominations for the Autumn meeting of the Masterton Racing Club are due on Friday next. Weights for the finst day of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Autumn meeting are due on Friday. To increase all hack races to £IOO each a s the Marlborough Racing Club has done in its Autumn programme, should certainly be received with appreciation by horse owners generally throughout the Dominion. Sir Knox was railed to Trentham this morning. Although the Sir Lad-' do colt favours' a lengthy' course, good judges give him a chance in the Thompson Handicap, more especially if the going is to hli s liking. A rider has not yet beert, found for Sir Knox. Day Fly should start favourite in the Nursery Handicap at Trentham. The jumping season will be> opened with a hack and hunters' steeplechase event at Trentham to-morrow. The field promises to be satisfactory in point of numbeis. The Aucklander Potoa is first favourite for the Thompson Handicap. It i s notable that horses from the north rarely .ran prominently on the Trentham course. The field for the Thompson Handicap promises to be larger than usual. The race should be most interesting with such gallopers as Bon Ton, Culprit, Emperador, Potoa, Sir Knox, Bliss, and Heatherbrae in the field. Hawke's Bay sportsmen consider Bliss to have a second to none chance in the big mile event. Ventura, with 9.0, will hava, no lack frf support .in the Railway Handicap at Trentham. Autumnus appears to have a mortgage on the North Island Challenge Stakes. Top .Note, who was purchased at the Feilding sales by trainer T. Higgins, made her appearance at Opaki on Saturday and given a light' task. She ha s lightened up since racing at Feilding, but should pay her way in the Wairarapa. Kilallon has been a big disappointment. He would Jo anything on the tracks, but would not run up to it in a 'race. He has been sent ba-ck to his owner's station, but may be given another trial,. AlectoY owner has decided to ispell her for the -winter. -The Sir Laddo mare wa s very sore after returning from Tauiierenikau. Sir Knox and Sir Solo claim engagements in the Hawke's Bay Cup. Awahou has been accepted for in two races on the first day of the Trentham meeting. The Thompson Handicap will probably be the blackgelding's mission. __
