THE PARK LAKE.

The tragic incident that occurred in the Masterton park lake yesterday should act as a warning to parents against allowing children of tender years to frequent the reserve alone. It has been noticeable of late tha* scores of children have scampered about- the park, and gone to the lake in. pursuit of frogs and tadpoles; to say nothing of those who have indulged in bathing. It is impossible .for the caretaker -of the "park to act as guardian to the children, and par* ents therefore run a very considerable risk by allowing their offspring to frequent tho park by themselves. it is to be hoped that yesterday's «ad affair will result in the exercising of jej-eater car© in the future on the part of parents generally.
