RUSSIAN DENTISTS.
When the last, mails left, a couple of hundred persons were being tried in Moscow for illegally practising dentistry. Of course, it is a stupendous calamity to fall into the hands of & had dentist. . The paternal Russian Government recognised this fact in the year 1900, and, a law wa-s made forbidding persons to put up brass plates on their doors and practise dentistry unless tlioy had duly qualified. This was an excellent arrangement, but these regulations merely ! opened a path to fortune for minoi i officials. They sold certificates to persons who had no right whatever to posstks them for. sums' ranging from £25 to £IOO. Many of their clients were Jews who had n-ot the slightest intention of practising dentistry, but did desire to acquiro ti 1 official title of dentist in order, thave the right of living • outside, the I Jewish pale. The police -suddenlv I awoke, and pounced -on buyers and sellers of certificates, and over two hnndv-d nf ' th'.om were arrainged before the Moscow Court.
