FATAL ACCIDENT.
WELL-KNOWN NATIVE KILLED
News was received m Masterton last evening of the death at Stronvar of Kara Te Huki, a well-known Maori farmer of that district, and son of Hori Te Huki, of the East Coast. It appears that Te Huki was riding on his farm on Saturday, and did not return in the evening, and his relatives in view of his non-ar-rival assumed that he had gone to the Taueru, as he had expressed his intention of making the journey. His only son Kara Te Huki, jnr., was out mustering yesterday afternoon when he discovered his father's body in a small gully. On examination it was found that life was extinct. It is surmised that*the deceased fell off his horse, and, as there are marks on his body, it is supposed he was kicked by the horse after he fell. The body was brought into Taueru last night where a large tangi will be held, Maoris being expected from all parts of the Wellington province.
