ALFREDTON SPORTS.
(Special Reporter.) The annual gathering of the Alfredton Sports Club was held at Alfred ton on Thursday, when there was a large attendance. The meeting passed off very successfully, due in a great measure to the efforts of the secretary (Mr Chas, Cross), W. E. Wilson, a young runner, won four events and ran into a second place, thus securing the points prize. The chief horse event, the Hunters' Competition, was • won by J. Hanley's "Spot," who took his jumps very cleanly, never striking a hurdle.. The Eketaiiuna Band rendered a number of selections during the day.- Following were the results: — FOOT EVENTS. Laing 2. Threading the Needle. -J. George 1, R. Pratt 2. A very enjoyable social and dance was held in the Alfredtou Hall in the evening. The floor was in splendid order, and music was supDlied by an orchestra from Eketahuna. The Hall was well filled with dancers. Messrs J. Hanley, J. Stevens and C. Smith were efficient M's.C.
