A POSTAL OFFICIAL'S TRANSFER.
MK H. H. CORK TO LEAVE MASTERTON. While the very many friends of Mr H. H. Cork, sub-Postmaster at Masterton, will be heartily pleased to hear that he has been promoted to be postmaster at Levin, they wiil feel the keenest regret at his being dissociated from his departmental post at Masterton. Mr Cork has been stationed at Masterton for a number of years past, and his unvarying courtesy, combined with his very intimate knowledge of post office routine have earned for him the name of being one of the most popular and respected officials ever stationed at Masterton. Not only with the general public is Mr Cork so esteemed, but among the members of the office staff themselves he is -regarded as an exceptionally capable administrator, who, while conserving official standards to the utmost, yet maintains the most cordial relations with the stalf under his control. It is these characteristics that have fitted Mr Cork rm'st eminently for the position of postmaster, and of a more important office undoubtedly than Levin. However, the climb up the Departmental ladder is a measured proceeding, and probably in the course of time Mr Cork will find himself duly installed in one of the chief post offhe.-? of the Dominion. Personally he is a cheery and sociable gentleman, and a very long experience in post and telegraph work has added to these valuable traitß assets of an equally valuable commercial nature — namely, the acquiring of a quite exceptional knowledge of the practical branches of service work. Mr Cork is a member of the Masterton School Committee, on which body he has done good work. Mr and Mrs Cork will be the recipients of many congratulations on Mr Cork's promotion. Mr H. E. Moore, a previous member of the Masterton Postal s-taff, is to succeed Mr Cork at Maeler r on, Mr Moore being now senior clt-rfc at Hawera.
