BBBCT Thursday. . Mr A: Johnson, of Parkvale, who recently had a leg broken at Te Wharau, has almost recovered from the injury. It will be some time, however, before Mr Johnson is able to undertake manual labour. Fireman C. Sadler has been appointed to represent the Carterton Volunteer Fire Brigade at tne Auckland Fire Brigades' Confer ence next month. I understand that Mr J. Pepper has disposed of his boot business hera and purchased a larger ione at Greymouth. During his soI journ here, Mr Pepper has been a valuable citizen, and together with his family, will be greatly missed. In the departure of the family, the Methodise Church lose able workers, Mr Pepper being treasurer of the Circuit, and Miss Pepper organist in the Carterfcjn Church. It is stated that Mr Alex. Adams, of Belvedere, has disposed of his faim to a MasterLon resident, and purpuses removing to Taihape. A case of scarlet fever is reported in the Wairsrapa South County, the locality being Gladstone. Mr and Mrs J. T. Maingay, of Te Aroha, arrived in Carterton this afternoon, a;:d are staying Mr Maingay's sister, Mrs W. J. Elliott. They came over the Main Trunk Line, and will spend a fortnight here before visiting other parts of the Dominion. ' Mr Maingay is editor and proprietor of the "Te Aroha News." Bro. C. J. De Lacey presided at a summoned meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., last nignt, when the yearly balancer sheet wa3 adopted. Bro. A. Cave, P.G,. was presented with a past officer' framed em Diem. Bros. W. Heap and J. Bond were elected auditors for the ensuing year, and Bro. G. VV. Deller was accorded a vote of thanks for his past services as auditor. It was decided to tender a farewell social to Bros. J. S. Pepper and'G. W. Dellar.
