CARRENO.
Says the Dunedin Evening Star:— "After hearing Mdme. Carreno one can understand the unstinted praise of the forerunning notices. They no longer read like flattery. She is not only a great pianist. So far as our experience goes, dating from Arabella Goddard, Mdme. Carrvno is peerless. And her distinguishing merit is that, whilst satisfying the critical, she also elucidates for the benefit of the general public. To understand and appreciate her playing it is not necessary to be a student. The distinguished visitor's very appearance bespeaks greatness. She is a striking figure, with a regal bearing. Her intellectual face suggests that she was born to command, and that if she had studied in other lines she would have become equally famous."
