BUSINESS ENTERPRISE.

An instance of what a change oan be made to old fashioned premises, with the expenditure of a few pounds to make them up-to date, is to b« seen iu the shop in which Robert J. Lyttle, the "Premier" sign and house decorator, opens to-day. All the old style of dividing bars, and small squares of glass has been done away with and a large square of plate glass, 11 feet by 7 teet, supersedes i hem. Inside the removal of partitions has made a fine and large sdop, which has been papered with an up to data treize to set it off, bhow oases for artists' materials and all kinds of tinned and bottled' stains, lacquers, varnishes, eto., are a prominent feature which attract attention, and the woll filled raoks of papers which have been jast opened up, ex-Paparoa, comprise a Btock of up-to date paperhangings that would te hard lo equal in the district. At the back of the shop, are large workshops, which are specially devoted to the different branches of the trade, including a fine room' for the pioture-framJng and sigu-writing, and a glass store. A teature of the external decoration uf tha ?ront shop is a large gold sign which is undoubtedly one of the finest and most artistioully executed pieces of work to be found outside the leading centres of the colony. Mr , r Lyttle is thoroughly enterprising and has "always made a point of keeping to the front in all the latest and newest ideas connected with the trade. The steadily-increasing business is the suiest sivnlbat the proprietor's efforts to keep abreast of the times aie appreciatd by the ppblio.
