MASTERTON SOUTH BAND CONCERT.

The concert to be held id he Town Hall, Masterton, this evening, in aid of the furds of the newly formed Maßtertou South Brasa Baud, pro misea to be a great success. A capital programme baa been arranged. Mr J. Parker, for many yeais a member of the Wellington Garrifon band, aud reoogniso-i as one of the loading cornet players in the oolouieß, will render two items—"Steirmark," by Theodore Hoch, and "The Holy City." A performer new to Masterton audiences, in the person of Mr S. J. Johnston, will make bia appearance. Mr Johnston is considered to be one of Australia's loading tenor vocalists. His items will be "My Pretty Jane" (Sir U. R. Bishop), aud "Dome, beloved" (a Venetian serenade by Piocolomini), the latter with 'cello obligato by Mr H. inns. Harry Hall will aing a number of the 'atest songs. Items will also be rendered by several of Masterton'a leading amateurs, including Misses Ettin Joyce, F. Millar, B. J.nld, Gougb, Mrs Edwards, Messrs Nash, Ralph, A. Nlool, Igguldeu, Cole and Muster Gougb. An efficient orchestra will render two selections, and Professor Karl will give an exhibition of logerdeinaiu. Taken altogether the programme is a flratolasa one, and the Town Hall will doubtless be crowded this eveniug.
