FATALITY AT WANGAEHU.

A man, named Patrick Slattery, employed ( by Mr B. Uulloty, was killed at Wangaebu, about 9.&0 o'olook on Satuiday mornlog. He was working in a gravel pit, and the earth above him wove way, and uwept him over an embttnkment, a distance of 14 feet, buryiug him. When extricated by a man'named Collins, who was also working In the pit, Slattery was dead. Dr. Cowie, of Masterton, went out to the scene of tho fatality, and found that the deceased had sustained.internal injuries as well as a fractured leg, and injuries to the ■spine. The deceased was atuut 35 years of age, and \ arrived in MiUtcrton about three weeks t ago from the Woodville'distriot., An inquest will fce held this,morning. '
