THE PORT STEPHENS.

By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, October 16. Tbe Union Company has instructed Captain Stringer, of the Rakanoa, to search for the abandoned steamer Port Stephens. He will spend some days about tbe locality where the Port Stephens was last seen, and then call at the Bluff aud telegraph the result of bis search before proceeding to Newcastle. The Rakanoa carries an extra crew, and a special snpply of bunker coal. The steamer left to-night. There is a possibility that the abandoned steamer may have been picked up by the Hinemoa, which left some days ago to make her penodioal examination of tbe depots at Auckland and other islands.
