Colonel M'Kenzie, who took a prominent part in the recent ODerationa against t.be Zulu natives, speaking at a banquet at Howiok, in Natal, traversed tbo events in oon □eotion with the rebellion, tie declared that the outbreak occurred at a critical time, and that a single reverse woull have roeant a ge&eral rising throughout the colony.

The Durban correspondent of the Standard states that it is understood that Lord Elgin withheld his consent to the Natal Indemnity Act because it was both retrospective and prospective.
