MEETING OF CREDITORS.

The first meeting of the creditors iu the bankrupt estate of Benjamin Speight, hotelkeeper, was held in the Master ton Courthouse yesterday. Mr W. B. Chennells, D.0.A., presided. Nino creditors were either present or represented. Bankrupt, in his evidence, stated that he had about £2OO when he went into the business. The purchase money was £1,353. He paid £IOO in cash, and kept £IOO in reserve, tie arranged with the Burton Brewery Company for £9OO, and with Messrs McDonald, Wilson and 00. for £IOO. His wife mortgaged property to raise more money. He sold out his business for £j,,400. Bankrupt added that if he had paid up bis liabilities before going into the hotel he would have had very little cash left. The meeting then adjourned until 11 o'clock this morning.
