HIGH COMMISSIONERS REPORT. The Industries and Commerce Department has receivedjihe follow, ing cable from the High Commissioner, dated London. 12th May:— The mutton market is dull. Trade for all classes has been • very slow, and prices are barely maintained. The average prioe for Canterbury mutton to-day is 4d per lb for light weights. North Island mutton is quoted at 3%.l for best quality and per lb for seoond-class lots. The lamb market 1b steady, and there is a good demand for all classes. The average price for Canterbury brands is 4%d per lb, and other than Canterbury brands is quoted at 4%d per lb. The beef market is dull, and there,is scarcely any demand. The average prices aia -3}£d and per lb. for hind and fore quarters respectively. The butter market is steady, with a very good demand. Moderate supplies are coming forward. The average prioe for choice New Zealand is 101s, and Danish 105s per owt. Tne cheese market, bci holders are firm. The average prioe of white makes is 60s per out. There is lesl demand for coloured at 62s per owt. There is a better demand for hemp. The avergae price of g.f.a.e. Wellington on spot to-day is '£3 l 10s. AprilJune shipments are quoted at £3l per ton. A few inquiries are being made for oookßfoot seed -by speculative buyers. Tne average price of new crop 171b weight, clean dressed -seed, is 48a per owt. There is a -good demand for all descriptions of wool. THE WOOL MARKET. By Telegraph—Press Association.
