THE MEIKLE COMMISSION.

DUNEDIN, May 7. The Meiklo Commission is expected to flnhh here on Thursday, in which ease a sitting will be held in Wellington, on Monday. The evidence to-day was largely that of those who had given evidence at the former trials, and several; witnesses found it difficult to recall details after such a lap o ot time. Alexander McDonald, farmer, said that JUambert had told him he could clear Meikie if he liked. He saw Meiklo shortly after, but did not mention what Lambert bad said. He had not mentioned the matter at the trial. Jas. Meehan, sheupfarmer, deposed that he leased the reserve which Meikle had occupied. In conversation with Troupe, one of the Company's managers, Troupe, who was leaving the Company's emI ploy, said he had documents which would clear Meikle. Witness told him to be careful for he might find himself where Meikle was. Arthur Perkins and Jane Shields, who had been in Meikle's 6mploy, gave evidence as to Lambert sayiug at Meikle's place that he was going to get £SO to convict Meikle. James Connor, who had been in Meikle's employ, testified to seeing Company's sheep on Meik'.e's laud. James Meikle, son of the supplicant, gave evidence as to Lambert stating that the Company had employed him to put skins on his (witnoss) fnther's place with the object of gutting him into trouble.
