/ HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 9. The Industries and Oommeroe Department has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, April 7th:—The muiton market is quiet, as the result of heavy arrivals. The arrivals for January and the two following months totalled 196,243 carcases. Trade for all cluases has been very slow, and prices are barely maintained. Pine quality is scarce. The average price for Canterbury brands is 4%d, and for other than Canterbury &iid per lb. The lamb market is weak, the supply exceeding the demand. The average price for Canterbury lamb is SH&, and other brands 4%d per lb. The beef market is quiet, and the suppiles of River Plate beef are heavy. The average price for New Zealand hindquarters is and forequarters 2%d per lb. The butter market is dull. Stocks are heavy and buyers are holding back, expecting prices to go lower. Some of the holders are forcing sales. The average price of choicest New Zealand butter to day is 98s;p3ani8b is quoted at 109s per cwt. There is good demand for cheese.
