MASTERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Masterton Football Olab was held last evening. Mr W. P. James presided, and there were twenty members present. The annual report (a precis of which has already been published) and the balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £1 16s, and an exoess of assets over liabilities of £5 16s, were tead and adopted. A letter from the Wairarapa Rubgy Union regarding the playing of a challenge match at Auckland, was referred to the Management Committee for consideration. A discussion took place on the advisablenesa of proouring a ground to play matohes where a oharge could be made for each match, and finally it was left in the hands of the committee to endeavour to arrange fcr a ground. A letter was received from the Wellington Rugby Union stating that the Brooklyn Fourth Glass Team were anxious to play a matoh in Maaterton on Easter Saturday or Monday, and asking that the Masterton Club arrange for a matoh. It was decided that as the club had not a Third-Class Team it could not see its way to play the match, but the Seoretary would endeavour to get another club to take up the otter. Officers for the ensuing yea-, were elected as follow:—Patron, Mr E. M. D. Whatman; President, Mr W. P. James; Vice Presidents, Messrs J. G. Eliott, A. Henderson, airl J. W. Cochrane; Management Committee, Messrs D. K. Logan, J. W. Cochrane and B. Chapman; Delegates to the Wairarapa Kucby Union, Messrs A. B. Charters, P. J. O'Leary, and D. K. Logan; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr D. E. Parton; Hon. Auditor, Mr W. C. Perry: Match Committee, Measrs D. K. Logan, J. O'Leary, and A. W. Renall. Messrs W. 0. Perry, and J. W, Cochrane and Rev. Dean McKenna were eleoted honorary life members of the olub. The Seoretary was instructed to write to honorary members requesting them to pay their subscriptions due before May Ist, failing that their names to be struck off the list of honorary meniibers. It was decided to open the season with a practice to day. The Chairman intimated that Mr W. Cragg had donated a football to tbe club, and a vote of thnnks was accorded Mr Cragg for his generous donation. The Secretary was instructed to forward a ballot-paper to eaoh of the members of last year's senior team asking them to vote for the beßt man in that team in order to dispose of Mr A. Henderson's medal, A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Logan for bis legal services in connection with the Gymnasium Committee and the Maaterton Club, A suggestion was passed to the Management Committee, asking that one or more persons be deputed to follow the club's matohes for the season in order to select the indivi - dual players who will reoeive the trophies at the end of the season. The following new members were eleoted:—Messrs E. Read, W. G. Lamb, G. Barker, E. Osborne, N. Hatch, W. G. Newton, H. Langton, P. Barry, Wilson, W. Nicol, and E. H. Lett. The resignations of N. H. McLachlau and E. Wrigley were accepted. The meeting concluded with'a vote 1 of thanks to the retiring officers.
