PRINCESS ENA OF BATTENBURG.
A STRONG PROTEST. Received February 21, 10.13 p.m. LONDON, February 21. The City of Dublin Grand Oranze Lodge has resolved that the arranged marriage of Princess Fin a of Battenburg with King Alpbonso, of Spain, was abhorrent to millions of Britishers, and that it imperilled the ties binding the Protestant colonies to the Reigning Family. CARDINAL MORAN. ATTRIBUTES THE STIR TO JEALOUS PRINCESSES Received February 21, 10.5 p.m. SYDNEY, February 21. Cardinal Moran, in an interview, said the statement that Prince's Ena was changing her religion as the outcome of an order from the Holy Se9 was wrong., The laws of Spain demanded that the rulers of the country should be Catholics, and, in conformity with those laws, the Princeßa was turning to the Roman Church. If she decided to marry King Alphonso she must obey the laws of her adopted country. As a matter of fact the Cardiua] thought that the stir had' been oauaed by Catholio Princesses in Europe, who were, naturally, envious at King Alfonso choosing a Protestant wife. Spain had been an unhappy country for many year?, but he hoped the advent of an English 'Princess would bring peace.
