NELSON BAND CONTESY.
. —♦ ■ SOUVENIR OP THE CONTEST. The conductor of the. Masterton Band has received from the Nelson Carnival Masquerade Committee a number of souvenir cards for distribution among the members. The card is nicely got up and printed in gold letters, bearing the following : "Nelson Carnival Masquerade. February 16tb, 1906. The Committee of the above offer their sincere thanks for the valuable assistance and moral help given in support of their attempt to give a finish to the Carnival celebrations in Nelson. The masquerade was the first of the. sort attempted in the colonies south of the line. (Elere follow the signatures of tne ladies and gentlemen of the Committee)." The above are an acknowledgement of voluntary services rendered by the Masterton Band in supplying the music, together with the Nelson Garrison Band, at the final proceedings in connection with the Carnival, and was accompanied by the following letter: "Mr MoLeod, Conductor Masterton Band. Dear Sir,—Will you kindly distribute to the officers and members of your Band some cards I am forwarding under separate cover, as a slight memento of an occasion in which they gave their valuable services so willingly (after a hard week's 'graft') to make the masquerade a success.—<F. F. C. Huddleston, on behalf of the Committee."
