VOLCANIC ACTIVITY.
AUCKLAND, January, 31
The steamer Hauroto, from Samoa, reports that tbe volcano in tbe Island of Tofoa, which is 70 miles from Nukualofa, and 35 miles from Haapai, and right in the track of the Union Company's steamers, was omitting flames to a great height, aud vomiting lava and etone. This volcano has been "dead" for a number of year*. The volcano at Savaii is blazing fiercer than before.
