The result of the A.M.P. ballot for the Board's proposal in connection with the extension oil the business by opening a branch in England. remitted as follows:—Votes for, 95,346; votes against, 33,753. THE WEATHER. "TERRIFIC HEAT." DISASTROUS RUSH FIRES. TWO LITTLE GIPLS ARRESTED. : Received January 25. 1.9 a.m. SYDNEY, January 24. The heat in the country is terrific. The bush flret in the Condoblin district have done great damage. Tullinga Station lost 20,000 acres of grass. A father and his two sons, going to the assistance of some neighbours, rode for their lives ahead of a wall of fire for seven mi es. They found a tank and took refuge in the water for Ave hours. Two girls, the eldest 13 years of age, have been arrested for starting this fire. The parents have, also,'been arrested, for aiding and abetting. MELBOURNE, Jan. 24. Six ohildren perished in 'a bush fire at Mount Fatigue, Gippsland, and other persons are missing. There are no particulars.
