w (Prom Our Own Correspondent). EKbITAHUNA, January 9. At the monthly meetiug of the Eketabuna School Committee, held last evening, the headmaster's report showed the roll number to be 111. It was decided to* call a special meeting for Monday night next to deal with the question of recommending the appointment of a pupil teacher. The combined schools of the district intend holding an excursion to the Manawatu Gurge on the first Thursday in February. After weeks of unseasonable weather, during which time a considerable quality of hay has rotted on the ground, we are now being treated to a taste of so minor. The dramatic entertainment and concert to be given in Eketabuna on Thursday evening next, in aid of St. Cuthbert's Sunday School, gives promise of being a big success. Several farms have lately change i Hands in this district at exceptional values. Mr A. W. Hogg, M.U.E., is to be publicly entertained at Eketahuna on Ibursday, February 23. The Premier has intimated his intention of being present. An extraordinary vacancy is likely to occur in the Ek«tahuna lowu Board through one of the members —Mr Henry Vile—leaving the district.
