A MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE.

The mysterious disappearance of Mr T. fi. Watson, Council Clerk, formed the subject of a special meeting of the North Botany Council last week, states the Sydney Daily Telegraph. Some ten weeks ago Mr Watson was granted leave of absence for the purpose of recuperating, he having been in somewhat, indifferent health some time previously. Mr Watson embarked on the R.M.S Sierra, intending to spend his holiday in New Zealand. The Mayor of North Botany (Alderman King) received a letter, which had neen vvritton on board the Sierra and posted in New Zealand, notifying his arrival, but since then no thing has been heard or seen of Mr Watson. What makes matters all the more mysterious is that Mr Watson was not in any financial difficulties. At the special meeting of the Council, the Mayor submitted a minute in which tie Intimated that the only course opun to him under the oircumstauces was to suspend Mr Watson for nelect of duty. The officer had teen a faithful servant of the Council for upwards of sixteen, years and it was a surprise to many that he had now, through some unaccountable cause, exceeded his leave. The Mayor's action was endorsed, and it was decided to leave the mater of filling the vacancy in the hands of the Mayor.
