The Masterton portion of the Outward mail is made up on Wednesday Afternoon prior to the Wellington sailing date, and a supplementary mail is despatched, closing st 5.30 a.m. on Thursday following, connecting with the steamer at New Plymouth. The Inward mil is due at Masterton by the 10.0 p m. on the same as at Wellington. MASTERTON TELKQRAPII HOURS. The office hours for telegraph work, at Masterton, are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to midnight daily (Saturday excepted). Sundays from 5 to 5.30 p.m. Holidays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 7 p.m. to midnight. Telephone Exchange is open from 8 a.m. to midnight daily (Sundays excepted). On Good Friday and Christmas Day the hours are 9 to 10 a.m. only KATES OF POSTAGE. (From the N.Z. Postal Guide). Letters and Letter Cards.—lnland, the United Kingdom, British Id for each half-ounce or fraction thereof. —Note—" Inland" includes the Cook Islands namely, Karatonga, Mangaia, Atiu, Aitutaki, Mitiaro, Mauke, and Hervey (Manual); also Palmerston (Avarua), Niue (Savage), Pukapuka (Danger), Kakaanga, Manahiki, Penrhyn (Tongareva), and Suwarrow Islands, British New Guinea, 2d for each half-ounce or fraction thereof. All other places 2|d for each half-ounce or fraction thereof. Post Cards.—All places, single, Id jeply, 2d. Commercial Papers.—Town, sd, if not exceeding half-ounce, or Id for the not 4oz or fraction thertof, and $d for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. Inland, Id for the first 4oz or fraction thereof, and jd for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. All other places 2£d for the first lOoz, and for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. Books and Printed Papers.—All places, or for each 2oz or fraction thereof. Pattern and Sample Packets,—lnland, not exceeding 2oz, $d over 2oz as for "All other places." All other place, not exceeding 4oz, Id; every additional 2oz or fraction thereof, $&. Magazines (not registered). l —All places, t|d per 2oz or fraction thereof. Magazines (registered).—New Zealand and Australia (except Queensland and Western Australia), each copy not exceeding 2oz £ J if over 2oz to Boz, Id; every additions" 4oz or fraction thereof, halfpenny Queensland, Western Australia and all other places, halfpenny per 2oz or fraction thereof.
