KING EDWARD'S VIEWS. A REASSURING STATEMENT. Received January 2, 1.10 a.m. Pfi.RlS, January 1. According to the Matin, King Ed ward, in giving an audience to a French statesman, presumably M. Paul Doumer, a few days ago, remarked that no nation has really contemplated disturbing the present peace. He is certain that none thinks of breaking it at present. Nothing will be changed in regard to the Anglo-Frenoh ontente and efforts will be made to increase the rapprocboment with Russia, which the late Cabinet began, in order to completely dissipate all causes of misunderstanding or any conflict of interests. The same journal adds that King Edward's remarks have an inestabfe advantage over the statements latterly attributed to the Kaiser inasmuch as it is in perfect harmony with the conduct of bis Government. The Temps is astonished to find the Uerman press working counter to the Kaiser's personal conciliatory sentiments'.
