The bachelors of Tuapoka Mouth, have every reason to be well satisfied with, the ball they gave on Friday night. The attendance was very large a number coming from considerable distances. Mr G. Hayman, in opening, the ball, extended on behalf of the bachelors of Tuapeka Mouth, a hearty welcome to all present. He explained that owing to the war no ball had been held for some years, but it was intended now to resume this popular annual fixture. The grand march, in which thirty couples took part, was led by tho MjC. (Mr D. Brown) and Miss Hyslop. The ball was tastefully decorated with evergreens and flags, and the floor was in porfect condition. The ladies dresses were also a feature of the evening. The catering was specially attended to, two dainty suppers being handed round. Soft drinks and apples were also passed round at various intervals, Excellent music was provided by Mr and Mrs A. McCorkindale (piano and violin), and Miss Anderson supplied an extra waltz. The M,C. carried out his duties' very efficiently and the ball closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne. " Uncle Sam is going to be partly ready for the next war. The United States army will not ibe reduced to less than home with tto gig. - ; -. _ ~
