SCHOOL EXCURSION TO THE EXHIBITION.
The Lawrence District High School contingent of excursionists to the Exhibition returned 'on Tuesday night. From Mr Darton, who was in charge of the children, we learn that the visit was a great success, and that every member of the party thoroughly enjoyed himself or herself. The journey up on Thursday was most enjoyable, a fine roomy carriage being placed at their disposal, and the time passed pleasantly. The accommodation provided at the Exhibition home was, though perhaps plaiD, all that could be desired, while the situation was ideal. Friday and Saturday were spent mainly in and about the Exhibition, though on the latter day time was found to visit Wainoni Park, where Professor Bickerton gave the children the benefit of some scientific instruction. On Sunday morning the Cathedral was attended, and in the afternoon a visit was paid to Sumner. On Monday the children were shown over Aulsebrook's biscuit factory, the Press office (where the latest printing machinery was seen in operation), Booth and M'Donald's implement works, and Ballantyne's, the evening being finished up in the Exhibition. The greatest kindness and consideration was received from everybody, and they found the time at their disposal pass all too quickly. In a future issue we hope to publish several essays describing the trip, and the impressions formed from the pens of the children themselves.
