(From oar Own Correspondent.) Dotedix, June 3rd. The Rangitikei Seat. Mr R. C. Bruce, formerly a member of the House of Representatives, has definitely decided to contest the Rangitikei seat, rendered vacant by the death of the late Mr D. Ef, Macarthur. Mr Bruce'a return is looked upon as a certainty. Licensing Meetings. The proceedings of the city licensing bench did not occupy more than half-an hour, the committee having previously determined on what houses should be closed. They decided to grant all remaining applications. Their decisions appear to give general satisfaction, but it remains to be seen whether the bench are sufficiently stiff-backed to resist the pressure that will be brought to bear on them during the next fortnight. There is to be a great struggle at Roslyn on Monday to close all the public houses.
