RAES JUNCTION.

Presentation. — When it became known that Miss Cottle, who has been in charge of our school here for the past two years, had been appointed to the Southbridge school, it was decided that her departure should be marked with some small demonstration of the esteem in which she is held. Accordingly, on Saturday evening a large number of parents and children assembled in the schoolroom to bii Miss Cot tie good-bye, when a most enjoyable time was spent. Readings and recitations were given by the children, songs were- also contributed, and Miss^Oottle and Miss Bennet gave some very nice musical selections. In the course of the evening, Mr Jas. Bannet, M.C.C., in addressing those present, said he had a very pleasing duty to perform. While he had much pleasure in presenting Miss Cottle with a testimonial on behalf of her many friends at Raes Junction, at the same time they greatly regretted her departure. They certainly did not blame Miss Cottle for bettering herself ; indeed, they were all highly pleased to know that she had done so. In presenting her with this small token of their esteem, she must not look to its intrinsic value, but to the feeling that prompted it. Mr Bennet then placed on Miss Cottle's Wrist a beautifully finished silver bracelet, bearing an appropriate inscription. In doing ao, he hoped

I she would be long spared to wear it, and I that it would in some small way serve to remind her of the many happy days she had spent among her old friends at Eaes Junotion. —Miss Oottle, in acknowledging the gift, regretted that she could not adequately express her feelings. She wished to assure them of her appreciation of their kindness. They had certainly taken her by surprise ; for she never expected to be made the recipient of such a handsome present. She keenly felt parting with her little friends, with whom she had been associated in her school duties for the past two years ; and if their affection for her was as strong as hers for them, they were certainly very much attached to each other. She only hoped she would get on equally as well io her new home. — Before the meeting broke up, Mr Beighton proposed a hearty vote of thanks to all who had so kindly assisted in making the presentation a success. — (Contributed.)
